Last November I travelled a short distance to meet Chrissy and her gorgeous boy, Roland! Chrissy had got in contact with me a couple months prior to the photo shoot to book Roland in for some portrait shots as she would love for him to do a bit of modelling for fun and was in need of some professional photographs to send to potential agents. I can easily vouch that he would make a perfect model; he is absolutely stunning and has such a calm, kind and patient temperament for it!
Roland is a 10 year old Irish Draught gelding, from the King of Diamonds offspring. Chrissy has owned Roland for just over a year now and often rides him at home whilst a friend, David also rides and competes him for her. Roland was no stranger to me; I had seen him out and about competing mainly in the working hunter ring and loved watching him, he’s definitely one to watch out for in the future!
As I arrived, I could see Roland looking over his stable door and he was turned out immaculately ready for his photo shoot. We started off with some black background photos and thanks to the help of everyone around the yard (and a large flag!) we got some great shots!
After the black backgrounds, Chrissy had mentioned about going across to the common which was situated just across the road from the yard that had spectacular views. We headed across and found a nice little opening which worked perfectly for photos. Roland co-operated very well, I think it was fair to say he enjoyed being in front of the camera!
Roland just kept impressing me with his temperament, he even had one of David’s sons on his back for a few photos!
To end the photo shoot, Chrissy wanted to get some photos to show off his movement so we headed back to the yard to and took photos of him in the school which I think he enjoyed the most as he eagerly showed off his moves. It’s easy to see why he’s always in the ribbons!
Roland was such a star for his photo shoot, his calm and gentle personality makes him perfect model material. Thank you for inviting me out to photograph your lovely boy Chrissy! I look forward to seeing him out and about at events this year!
